Unpopular Unpopulist

January 11, 2010

Populism does not exist materially. It is a marketing slogan. It is a label designed to mask political manipulation and deceitful dissemination of lies. “A populist” is little more than a barking dog – which besides being a faithful sentinel –  is a good and wondrous thing in itself. But beasts are natural, and humans have no right to behave like them, however much they may be capable of it. And dogs are easily set barking. If you stirred up a pack of dogs, by torments and teasing, you would have a populist movement. Populism was perfected by the manipulators of the ancient Roman mobs. Provoking riots for “more free corn” was the political favorite of ancient Roman senatorsto create a diversion and gain populartity. Nothing has changed since. Remember; there is nothing wrong with the dogs. They are more faithful than most humans; but we can have no expectations of their discretion. They are loyal; which is still better than most humans. So who is stirring up the dogs; and why? Who wants “OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people” to perish from this earth? Brian
